Kenney “Walks-A-Mile” to Promote Awareness of Domestic Abuse

On March 13, 2014, the Kenney staff were part of the 328 people who walked through the streets of Downtown Orlando to take a stand against domestic abuse, and raised more than $24,000 dollars. That’s the equivalent of 889 safety plans or 192 nights of safety.

Barbara & Ruth Ann meet Governor Scott during Florida Tourism Day

On March 12-13, 2014, Barbara and Ruth Ann attended the industry’s annual Florida Tourism Day in Tallahassee, Florida, where Governor Rick Scott gave a speech. Among other things, Scott’s focus was on state government and the part it plays in Florida’s most profitable industry.

Industry representatives from around the state where present for the event, including Tallahassee legislators and government leaders. The 2014 Florida Tourism Day hosts included the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, the Florida Attractions Association, the Florida Association of Destination Marketing Organizations, the Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, the Florida Association of Museums, Film Florida, Florida Sports Foundation and VISIT FLORIDA, to name a few.

Barbara Awarded CFHLA’s Allied Member of the Month

On April 25, 2013, Barbara Kenney was presented with Allied of the Month for May, for her service on CFHLA’s 2013 Bacchus Bash. She has served on the board of the CFHLA and devoted time to the Bacchus Bash for many years. Barbara also had the pleasure of presenting hospitality student Jacquelyn Lopez with a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of the CFHLA.

Barbara has been active within the hospitality industry since Kenney Communications began over 30 years ago.
